The Ondo State Government says it is working hard to upgrade the School of Nursing in line with the National Policy on Education.

Dr Taye Oni, the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, made the assertion on Thursday in Akure.

Oni, represented by Dr Ola-Oba Ado, the Director, state Public Health, spoke at the graduation ceremony of 138 students of the school for the 2015 and 2016 academic sessions.

The permanent secretary advised stakeholders to complement the state government’s efforts in taking the school to greater heights, saying that government could not do it alone.

He also urged the graduating students to emulate good leaders in the nursing profession, by projecting the good image of the school.

Oni urged them to discharge their duties in line with the medical practice.

The school Principal, Mrs Idowu Edward, also advised the graduating students to display the good virtues they were taught in school.

Edward urged them to shun illegal and unethical practices, saying that discipline and honesty should be their watchwords.

She said that the school was among the best in Nigeria with one of the students emerging as the overall best candidate in the 2017 Florence Nightingale Competition.

Edward commended the state government for according the school priority in the scheme of things.

The overall best academic students in 2015 and 2016 respectively, Miss Nlemchukwu Chisom and Miss Tawakalitu Mojeed, attributed their outstanding performances to God.

They promised to portray their alma mater in good light through hard work and discipline.

In his remarks, Dr Supo Ijabadeniyi, a former student of the school, got the institution’s award for excellence.

He said that the award would propel him to do more, urging the upcoming ones to be focused and worked harder.
